The fearless Brigade, in and around Tallong!

The Touga Fire November 2002

The Touga Fire was thought to be started deliberately in the vicinity of Tolwong directly across the Shoalhaven Gorge from Tallong on the 10th November 2002, burned for 28 days on its rampage through Morton National Park and destroyed more than 50,000 hectares.

The Tallong RFB worked for 14 days without a break, day and night to clear fire trails and ready the Tallong peninsula for the fire if it crossed the Shoalhaven River. Thank goodness it didn't!

Although most of our initial images are of the Erikson Air-Crane Georgia Peach (it was the most exciting thing to happen in Tallong since the Olympic Torch passed through the village) there'll be more images and many more pages to see soon!
